Your First WatCard

The WatCard is one of the most important pieces of identification you will have while at the University of Waterloo. Each student is assigned a personal identification number that is encoded on their individual WatCard. This is your student number, valid for your entire stay at the University of Waterloo. Returning students can use their WatCard without having to update it. Distance Education students requiring a WatCard must go through the Distance Education office.

PLEASE NOTE:

1) To pick up your WatCard you must come in person and you will need your UW ID number and a valid piece of photo identification, i.e: Driver’s License, Passport, Canadian Citizenship Card, or another government issued document with your picture and name. We are located in the Student Life Centre (beside the PAC), lower level. Our regular business hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm.

2) Validation Stickers are not necessary for returning students as the existing sticker expires in 2006. New cards will have the expiration date printed on the front.
