WatCard Uses

Your WatCard is accepted by many departments and facilities across campus. Why carry any other card or cash when your WatCard provides you with the ultimate in flexible dollars?

Your WatCard serves the following purposes:

Debit Card: The WatCard acts like a Debit Card that you can add money to for use at various locations on the University campus and in the Waterloo community. Staff, students and faculty are encouraged to add money to their WatCard to purchase food at Food Service eateries and to make purchases at the various other locations both on and off campus.

Student Identification: The WatCard is the official student identification card of the University of Waterloo. Students who already have a WatCard can continue to use their card without having to update it.
PLEASE NOTE: To pick up your WatCard, you will need your UW ID number and a valid piece of photo identification, i.e: Driver’s License, Passport, Canadian Citizenship Card, or another government issued document with your picture and name.

Library Card:
The bar code on your WatCard serves as your library bar code. Once you obtain your WatCard, you may have your bar code validated at any of the libraries on campus. Once validated, you may use your WatCard to borrow books and other materials at the libraries on campus.

Physical Activities Complex: As a registered student, you are entitled to the use of the PAC. Present your WatCard here to use the facilities, sign up for courses, borrow equipment and to use the towel service. If you are faculty, staff or a guest who wishes to use the PAC, please review WatCard polices & procedures.

Registrar’s Office: Use your flexible dollars to pay for transcripts and other documents.

Graduate Students Office: Use your flexible dollars to pay for such items as transcripts and thesis copies.
